Reflection on CPD Presentation showcase & Module learning

CPD Presentation showcase
Unfortunately, my group was not selected to present at the final showcase. However, I managed to witness many excellent presentations that showcased humour and yet communicated well to the audience. The presentation that I enjoyed most was Goldheart. The presenting team showed confidence in their delivery of the presentation while having a deep understanding to their assignment. They utilised excellent visual aids with their powerpoint during the presentation. It was aesthetically pleasing and was a good reference tool for the audience. Their video was informative while having humour incorporated into it. It made the video very memorable and enjoyable at the same time. It was an excellent presentation to start the entire showcase with. I believe that the entire group dynamics made it a very successful presentation.

Module learning
The goals that I set for myself at the start of this module was to improve both my communication skills and my public speaking. I believe that I have made improvements over this trimester and began to open up more to my peers and in class as well. It has been a continuous journey for me as I struggle between wanting to open up more and lacking the confidence. My public speaking skills was also further improved through the many presentations that we had to go through in this trimester. CPD provided me with a platform to improve on my public speaking skills through the mock presentation and the final presentation. The mock presentation paired with the feedback from both my classmates and Mr Blackstone gave me tips to improve for the final presentation and just general feedback about my presentation skills. It was useful as we sometimes tend not to realise what we are doing wrong and provided me with a platform to improve before the final presentation. As a whole, I feel that this module has been very beneficial to me and the skills that I have picked up can be transferred to my daily life. I enjoyed the emphasis on communication for this module as it is so useful and applicable to everybody. Being placed in a smaller class of 20 compared to other modules gave everybody better learning opportunities and a more close knit environment to improve and learn together. I greatly enjoyed being taught by Mr Blackstone and could not have asked for a better lecturer to teach this module! Thank you so much for the great memories and I really enjoyed going for class every Wednesday afternoon! :)

  1. Thank you, Natasha, for this detailed reflection. It warms my heart to hear that you feel you managed to acheive the goals that you set for yourself at the start of the module for 'opening up' and reducing your fear when speaking to others. If anything was a testament to that, it was the good job you did for the final OP. In fact, there were many interactions where it seemed you did great.

It was great to witness you gaining more confidence through the term and exiting your comfort zone. I appreciate all the efforts you made to do so.

Best wishes as you continue your learning journey.
